Blogging From Portland.

Bob K. had some frequent flyer miles to burn and invited me to come with him to Portland while he was working. I have been hitting coffee shops, reading, and listening from talks from the AVC conference.

Here is the goodness:

(from Rick Olmsteads talk)
We Cannot Wash The Feet of A Dirty World If We Refuse To Touch It- It we are afraid of being contaminated by it. We will never touch it, we will never be contaminated by it. We will never reach people until we love more than we hate. We will never reach people in the muslim world until we love muslims more than we hate Islam . . . until we love abortionists more than we hate abortion. . . Until we love more than we hate, we are fooling ourselves, we are fortresses. We are a Bubble Church.

When you see people outside the Christian community, you lose! When they become the enemy in any way no matter what they do, what they believe, what they practice, as someone to be protected from we lose the day, and we become a club and not a church. . .

reading: Ray Bradbury, Tom Wright, Nouwen, and Getting Things Done.
Listening: Meet The Beatles.

We are a Bubble Church, and "they" are Bubble Communities just as blind as we are at times. Until we burst all our bubbles, become truely open and loving, we're just killing time.

Kudos to you Jeff, for the upcoming concert featuring your friends at the Columbus Music Hall. This night will be free of bubbles. A tip of the hat to all of us looking outward, and no longer inward.
