prayer vigil pt. 2

Ian and Kathleen dropped by for their shift at the prayer vigil. Ian and Kathleen sat down and watched a powerpoint about Asia’s Hope so they could pray for the kids. Kathleen, inspired by the show started working on a big drawing about how Jesus loves Cambodia. Ian and I went to my office to pray while we looked at the maps he made at St. Joseph.

Here were a couple of his prayers:

“Jesus- I wanna pray for all the people in Africa that you would make them un poor.”

“I pay that all the children in Asia would have a great home and have houses in Jesus name I pray amen. “

We then prayed for the poor in mexico.

And then Ian took me aside and whispered this in my ear.
Some people at my old school spoke mexicoish.

24 hour Prayer Vigil pt. 1

Almost 4 hours into the 24 hour Prayer Vigil. We kciked it off with a blistering set of passionate worship songs--guitar-Djimbe, and 30 voices for over an hour, crammed into the front lobbey of Elementville (above cornerstone bakery, across form Rag_o_Rama.) Following the worship- Posters in the Lobbey contained phrases from the Jesus Prayer. People could work around the circle writing out prayers and petitions, and then make another round praying for others. In the Corner Conference Room, dozens of candles burned as several composed poems or letters as a prayer to God, while some played the glass harmonics (thank-you Paul Robinson!) Refreshments ranging from vegetables to pop tarts adorned the break-room- With lots french press coffee courtesy of "Yeah Me Too Coffee Shop."

In the theatre room-- A series of prayers ranging from Psalms, selections from the Book of Common Prayer, Celtic Daily Prayer, etc- rotate while people sit and meditate on the words speaking to God.

Letters are beginning to be posted on the walls- and I am finding myself re-reading the prayers- as I think of new things to add. Every time I go to the confession wall- something new comes up.

Andy was at his laptop- typing a prayer to Jesus for 45 minutes. it was effortless, but according to Andy-- the longest he had ever prayed. I hope this time can be a time of discovery for many to find new ways they can connect with God.

We have people coming in throughout the next 20 hours-- But we would love for you to join us. Drop in prayers are welcomed!

Elementville is on the SE corner of High and Longview, Enter thru the blue door with the element logo facing high st. across from rag o rama- go upstairs, turn left.

The return of the bad blogger.

Friends,

Life is so good, fraught with everyday drama and blessing. I just wanted to quickly touch base.

-Watched "Supersize Me" with Adrienne, I have not had fast-food in 3 weeks and have not had any more IBS. I have had IBS since beginning the Church Plant, and now I feel a whole lot better. Also went down from 3 cokes a day to 3 a week, and have a spinache salad at least once a day.

-When I put the kids to bed I read BIble stories to them from The NIV Children's Bible- AWESOME illustrations. No white-boy Jesus in this book- IN fact hardly any anglo-looking people. Much more middle-eastern- but anyway, I try to only read one story a night- and discuss it with the Kids. We read the account of Jesus being captured in the Garden of Gethsemane. We were talking about how scary it must have been, and Ian commented, "Daddy, that's just like when the creatures captured Aslan the Lion, and they cut his main, and killed him on the Stone Table."

Wow.-- I think they are getting it.

So we have just started reading the Chronicles of Narnia as well. The chapters are not too long to read aloud, and their is a lot of good conversation fodder in the books to talk with Ian and Kathleen about.

-I'm cautiously excited with what's going down in my church community. John and Kori are starting a new, kid friendly Friday Night home group at 559 Northridge. If you are interested e-mail him at john(at)elementville(dot)com. Chelsea is also starting an Alpha group.

I am especially excited about our upcoming 24 hour prayer vigil, held at Element (right above cornerstone bakery, across from Rag_o_Rama. The vigil will be held on March 11th & 12th between 7:00PM Friday Night to 7:00PM Saturday Night. FInger Food and Coffee Will Be Provided. Drop in traffic is welcomed. I hope this is just merely the first of many such events.

You don't have to be affiliated with Central Vineyard to join us.

Be seeing You,

Jeff
